It’s funny to see how people react when I say I’m a sports photographer. Usually their faces light up and they say something like “Wow, that’s cool. You must get to see a lot of awesome games.” While it is true I get to be right there in the midst of the action, I’m not usually rooting for either team but trying to figure out the best angle to capture the action on the field. Throw in inclement weather, bad lighting, fast movement, and the threat of getting plowed into and it’s not nearly as fun as it sounds. One really rough shoot was at “The Inferno” on the campus of Eastern Washington University.
